fishing with GVL Tackle pulled in a 2 lb 12 oz last
night at 7:40 pm. The Lake should be posting a
picture. Fish were caught using Pink w/whit head mouse
tails, Rainbow Garlic,
Chartreuse Garlic, Spring Green and Pumpkin stripped
with white. Worms were good at the beginning of the
week. many people caught their limit in a couple of
hours. Some caught none. Use color combinations that
offer contrast. Keep in mind that early morning and
evening what looks like a bright color to us looks black
after a few feet in the water. (see
Understanding Color in
Water and Trout Vision and newest article starting
on trout vision.) Fishing should be good Friday thru
Tuesday.
Lake Conditions as of 08/11/2014
Cool morning - 55 degrees at
5:30. Super Moon setting at 7:00 am. Fishing was slow
Sunday. Most fish were caught using Rainbow Garlic,
Chartreuse Garlic, Salmon Peach, and Pumpkin stripped
with white. Worms were slow, Spinners/spoons/tails
(chartreuse & pumpkin) brought in 8 good bass (catch and
release) Color combinations that offer contrast work
best so mix a 2nd color in like a stripe. Forecasted
rain later this week should bring the lake temperature
down even further. Fishing should be good Thur thru
Monday.
The Boy
Scouts Troop 502 Adventure Group on Saturday was
impressed with GVL Tackle and our assistance with their
Lake needs. This test group was here to evaluate
Green Valley Lake for potential use for future BSA
Troops to obtain their fishing merit badges. GVL
Tackle's helpfulness with this group has achieved a
recommendation to their other BSA Troops.
Lake Conditions as of 08/10/2014
Cool morning - 48 degrees at
5:30. Super Moon setting at 6:00 am. Green Valley Lake temp still slowly
dropping. Fishing was moderate Sunday. Catch rate was
moderate possibly due to the super moon at night. Good
lunar fishing forecasted after moon fades to daytime
by the weekend of the 14th thru 18th
A small test group of Boy
Scouts from Troop 502 was up Saturday to test GVL as a
possible lake recommendation for future BSA
organization fishing needs. They caught 14 trout earning
their fishing merit badges. This is the second
successful BSA group this year GVL Tackle has
extended a welcome to and assisted with. Hoping to bring
more up to enjoy our hospitality and lake.
